Today’s NOTD is a simple one, made with dotting tools. Mine were bought at Ebay (super cheap!), but it’s also possible to just use hairpins and such 🙂 The sun was shining, so I went for pastel colours, based on things like grass, flowers and sunshine. Maybe i’ll do this in dark and pale colours sometime, the contrast would be fun.
I started out with two layers of Upper Green Side by Essence. A pretty pastel green colour, which seems to contain some green shimmer in the bottle. That doesn’t really show up on the nail, although that doesn’t make the nail polish any less pretty! As usual for an Essence polish, Upper Green Side is easy to apply and dries nicely. Shiny and smooth.
As soon as that had dried enough, I used different sized dotting tools to make the dots. The yellow colour is NYC’s Lexington Yellow, the blue-ish one is Essence’s Absolutely Blue and the pink one is called Free Hugs and is also by Essence. Essence’s nail polish names, gotta love them 😉 I should practice some more to get the dots looking absolutely perfect (pay close attention to some of the yellow ones), but I really like the effect of different sized dots.
To get some contract between the colours after all, I ended up adding some dark green dots between the other ones. For that, I used Essence’s We Rock The Green (another fun name). After that (see photo below) I added one layer of Crystal Beading by Sally Hansen. Almost invisible in the shadows, but it gives a fantastic layer of shimmer in the light!
